What to Look For

Common warning signs of overdose could include, but are not limited to:

  1. Unresponsiveness
  2. Shallow breathing
  3. Excessive vomiting
  4. Unconsciousness
  5. Tremors
  6. Slurred speech
  7. Difficulty breathing
  8. Fainting

If you suspect an individual has overdosed, call 911 immediately.

Over-consumption of prescribed, illegal, or over-the-counter substances can result in serious harm. An overdose requires immediate medical attention and can be fatal. If you suspect overdose, call 911.

What emergency responders need to know:

  1. Person’s name and birthdate
  2. Known prescribed medications
  3. Known medical conditions or allergies
  4. Substance – what it is, the amount, and when it was ingested
  5. History of substance misuse and/or mental health concerns
