BIPOC Mental Health Awareness Month

July is BIPOC Mental Health Awareness Month, an annual opportunity for honoring and raising awareness on what positive mental health and wellbeing may look like for people of color.

Inspired by author and mental health advocate Bebe Moore Campbell, this month is a reminder that practicing empathy and taking action can create a more compassionate and equitable world for all.

Why It Matters

While mental health is a common and shared thread between people from all walks of life, folks from communities of color experience unique challenges and stressors.

Across the United States, BIPOC individuals are less likely to have access to mental health services, more likely to receive poor-quality care, and are often misdiagnosed.

Historical and ongoing discrimination, generational trauma, and socioeconomic disparities all contribute to a mental health landscape, that for many throughout BIPOC cultures, can feel unwelcoming and hard to relate to.

Promoting Change

Take time to learn, listen, and act. Whether it’s reading the story of a BIPOC mental health advocate, attending a local event, or simply checking in on a friend: each action brings connection and healing.

If you or someone you know is seeking mental health support, North Range is here to help. Our team of compassionate, culturally competent providers is ready to walk alongside you on your journey. Healing is possible — and it starts with connection.

Let’s keep showing up for each other. This month and every day.
